According to 19th century census’ my Great Grandparents John & Emma Toy lived in a now demolished, one up one down back to back terrace in Louise Road before moving towards the end of the century to a nearby corner shop premises, 38 Victoria Road where the entrepreneurial John Toy, opened a Green grocery shop. I wonder if anyone on this wonderful forum has any knowledge or photographs of this area prior to demolition?
 
the corner shop was not demolished its still there..corner of louise road and victoria road..click on street view below and looking at the old maps there is not much left of louise road...what number did they live at ?

Actually Lyn, following an open spinal operation surgery Christmas, I’m currently on holiday recovering in warm and sunny Fuerteventura and do not have access to my records showing the actual address in Louise Road. I can check the number when I’m home. Thanks for your help.

hi malc as you can see janice has found out it was no 17...i wonder if you can remember when john and emma was born as im just looking on ancestry...oh and have a speedy recovery

thats what i wondered jan as i have a john and emma toy on the 1901 but living in ladywood..it says john was born in swansea..maybe malc can help as i am tad confused

That's who I found - hevwas a brass caster I think. Si I too am confused.
Definite entry for shop at 17 Louise Road.

on the 1891 i have them living at gt king st newtown area...hopefully malc will confirm we have the correct family
