Kind regards irene
have to say i am surprised at that considering that your mom is deceased and you are her next of kin..i dont know if they told you how long you would have to wait but even if they have a 100 year closure on info you should be able to obtain it in 2037

as your dad has passed away then you and any other of your siblings would become next of kin..without you giving us more info i dont think we can help you..for instance as you do know the name of your moms mom you could go on ancestry (you have to pay to use it and view records) and check the 1939 eve of war register to see where she was living and if anyone else was living with her...i could check for you but i would need your moms moms name and the address she was living at when she gave birth...

Unfortunately my partner cant find anything else of my mother or her mother, except for the information in the 1939 register and my mothers birth and death certificate, I have attached the clipping from my mothers birth certificate but as you can see its not the easiest to read,
this is what we make of the writing on the clipping see below and attachment.
The only letters that we are struggling to read is the "C" for cecilia and the address "Bexley" If anyone else reading this sees anything other than that, your help would be appreciated

bit confused irene..can you confirm that you know from the 1939 reg the name of the family your mom was living with when she was 2 and that she lived at 74 alwold road weoley castle..? this was just a normal house and is still there...click on link below for todays street view ..no 74 is the house to the left of the one with the white fence

As Lyn says 74 Alwold Road is an ordinary house. So I suspect she was being fostered.
It looks as if she married as Patricia I Harper in 1967 to James Salmons (surname from 1939 reg). The fact she was still Harper suggests to me that she wasn't adopted.

hi irene further to my last post...have you found the records on ancestry that show 2 bastardy court orders ..one on 22 april 1938 where cecilia was the defendant and clarence leonard hines was the complainant.. the other on 23rd of march 1938 where cecilia was the complainant and clarence was the defendant ? i am only guessing but this looks like clarence could have been your moms father
