Monument Road

" It is not listed in the 1950 or 1955 directories, which would indicate that it was probably, but not certainly, a private property. . The occupants on the electoral roll for 1950, 1952 and 1955 are listed below. That is only those over 21 "......................

Are these directories available to view or did you draw it up yourself. Would love to access something like this to track a few of the family in the past.
Thanks.

Yes I did also at Les & Ray's I was really young then I had to sit on the board , then in 1955 we moved lo & behold shortly after who moved into Granville Street off Broad Street L & R . I don't know why for some reason they always reminded me of Morcambe & Wise aalthough they never resembled them at all .
I'm not sure if I've illustrated Les or Ray, I only remember one barber, who smoked constantly

Maybe someone's relation was in this "Baby Week" photo and benefitted from the Monument Road Child Welfare Centre's services. This must have been the pre- free orange juice and rosehip syrup days (before the NHS).

Before we moved house I went to a christmas party at the welfare, and Father Christmas gave me a tin of Bournvita for a present . I was having hot cups of it and taking a handful eating it dry my it tasted good .

I remember being taken to the Monument Road Child Welfare Centre when I was four, to be weighed, measured for height and given orange juice and castor oil.

Can't say I've ever tried it, but can imagine it's good as I loved to drink Ovaltine (and Horlicks - remember you could get Horlicks tablets, lots of healthy malt). But how thoughtful of Father Christmas to give Ovaltine !
