1952 Daimler car used by the Birmingham Mayor discovered..

wow it just goes to show that these little gems are still lurking in old barns and garages...must say it does look in good condition...be interesting to find out how much it sells for

Currently the bid for the Daimler stands at £4,800 with 24 minutes of the timed auction left. Only £1,337 below it's delivery price back in 1952. Some late frantic bidding could yet, see the bidding near the 1952 cost. Hopefully it might be bought, with a view to putting it on public display locally, rather than being locked away again in someone's garage as an investment.
 
No VAT on used cars Lloyd, the dealer is charged VAT on the margin between his buying and selling prices, it's not reclaimable, full VAT is charged on commercial vehicles and is reclaimable.
Auction 'fees' are vatable though. the 20% mentioned here will be the fees paid by the buyer and may include VAT.
