Is it just me or have the holes in the middle of my polo mints got bigger ,(hence less mint for my money,)
I can remember when they were 2d
 
There are many examples of the chocolate makers selling you 'air' and making it sound special because the bars are bigger.

There is a sugar-free version of Polo Mints. There is however a warning: "for some people, especially children, excessive consumption may produce laxative effects". Dave
 
There is potential for that effect with many sugar substitutes, though usually only if a fair amount is eaten. My boss at Bournville was rather sensitive to these and was very reluctant to try any of the experimental bars made when we were investigating sugar-free chocolate
