don't know that but the Saracens Head I know is on Stratford Rd ShirleyCould this have been The Saracens Head. This is a famous, historic public house on The Green.
Yes it did win a large national grant and was beautifully restored but seems to have fallen into mothballs with decline of St Nicholas' church functionality. a great shame.
Yes there is a building called Saracens head on the green also on Stratford road.Though a new vicar had it renamed for fear of racism it’s known in Kings Norton and always will be Saracens Headdon't know that but the Saracens Head I know is on Stratford Rd Shirley
I hate the fact that pubs (and apparently former pubs) get renamed under new owners. The familiar name remains in the public knowledge for the building (and sometimes the surrounding area) so it is quite pointless. For instance, I will always know the point where Wolverhampton Road crosses Hagley Road West as "The Warley Odeon", although it has long gone.Yes there is a building called Saracens head on the green also on Stratford road.Though a new vicar had it renamed for fear of racism it’s known in Kings Norton and always will be Saracens Head
