Something I found out many Moons ago was that the Post Office which is now a Beauty Shop was the first place in Birmingham to have a Telephone, as the Prime Minister at the time used to visit Lady Bradford quite alot, I have an inkling it was Gladstone, My Grand Parents Lived at 14 The Green for quite a few years, it was owned by the Bradfords and my Sister went to the School till it closed down.
Hi Bobby, My late wifes Aunty Alice (Rutter) lived on the Green for many years, next door
to the Coach + Horses pub, Enid went to stay with her for a while so that we could be married at the church and get the banns called. I never thought for a moment it was a beautiful chuch, but they do say
beauty is the eyes of the beholder, I might just try and get over on one of the open days to see the interior
again. bye Bernard

Hi DaveG what years were you at the hall & GEC , do you remember a RAY ASHDOWN ? a pal of mine for many years while at WITTON & GEC RUGBY.
Castle Bromwich Hall was owned at one time by the Earl of Bradford. For a number of years GEC rented the beautiful Hall and, in exchange, covered the costs of the general upkeep of the building and the surrounding gardens. GEC then equipped the Hall to house Engineering students who were apprentices at the plant in Witton whilst they attended Gosta Green and Birmingham University. I was most fortunate to be one of those lucky individuals spending almost 5 yrs at the Hall. One memory that will always remain in my mind was being able to relax in the evening in the Tapestry draped lounge that overlooked the Rose Gardens at the rear of the Hall.

Saturday and Sunday the Church is open 1400 until 1800

I hope I am not too much off topic but if anyone is planning to visit the Hall this Saturday the 11th there is a local school fate so shy not kill two birds with one stone. It is at Castle Bromwich Infants and Junior school and is usually very good with live music and many other events. Jean.

Hi Dave I had hoped to get over to Castle Brom yesterday, but I had a awlful night on Saturday
hardley slept at all, so didnt feel like driving on Sunday. At my age you get good and bad days, some
times it ten minutes just to get my socks on. I shall make it back to the scene of the crime one day,
Bernard

Bernard if you do let us know and we will meet you there and could go for a bite to eat. It is a beautiful church you were wed in and thanks Dave once again for posting such lovely photo's. Jean.
