Cinema in Ledsam St Ladywood

Does anyone have any pictures or information on the above cinema.
I think it was called the Regent (or flea pit to the customers).

Ladywood Picture House Ledsam Street Ladywood

Opened 1910 Modernised 1932 and renamed The New Regent

Closed 1958 and demolished.

No photo as yet I'll have a look on site:)

yes i have got a picture in my mind when it closed and i also remember the
paint and decorating shop whe the police raided it and found all the explosive in the back and the bomb making equip;
just yards from that picture house in years gone bye
i think it was about 200 yards before the picture house if i remember correctly

Here is a picture of the notorious shop you refer to about 1910. It can be seen from the name of the shop that it is not just modern PR people who use events to their advantage

It was called The Regent.. it was on ledsam st.. so people just called it the ledsam
