Alberta is a star - this is another big piece in are jigsaw!
Hi all, I now have a copy of the marriage certificate from 1941 (later anulled) Donald William Pearce is down as born in 1917, his father was Henry Edward of 35 Greenway St

I can't find a DWP born in B'ham, so it could be one of two born in London (1916 / 1917), perhaps you locals might have more success

I have found a Henry E Pearce born in Aston in 1900

Donald W Pearce birth reg Aston September 1916 mothers maiden name Firth ref. 6d 833

Henry Edward Pearce married Nellie Firth,Aston December 1905
ref. 6d 811

Frederick G mmn Firth June 1914 Aston ref. 6d 914

Am I right in thinking annulled means never been married?:)
yes, might be my spelling

They married in 1941 - but Donald was already married - I have yet to look up who to - we think he went to court for bigamy, so the first wedding was cancelled (anulled)

Then he must have got a divorce from the first wife, and my mum and dad married again in birmingham March 1951 (9c 1324)

When i get it sorted, i must write a book.

Lloyd found a Donald W born in wandsworth in 1916, but it is not him as the father is not correct.

be for now!

you replied too quick for my last message.

Do you have this info on discs?

Whatever i can't believe how helpful you are

I got the info.from the UK birth and marriage records but there were probably more children between their marriage in 1905 and the birth in 1912 but until that date the mother was not named on the index.

You would have to obtain marriage certificate of Henry and Nellie to find Henry as there are a few possibilities.

Nellie Firth was born 1884
1891 39 Greenway street,Bordesley
Samuel Firth age 38 b. Alton ,Staffs Machine fitter
Lucy age 34 b. Smethwick
Nellie age 7 b. birmingham
Edwin age 6 b. birmingham

1901 39 Greenway street

Samuel age 48 Machine fitter
Lucy age 44 dressmaker
Nellie age 17 Dressmakers assistant
Edwin George 16 Student
Frederick Wm age 7

Next door at 41 Greenway st. in both years is Joseph Firth b. Farley 1855
possibly Samuels brother.Farley is a beautiful hamlet close to Alton.

1861 and Ann Firth with her children George, Samuel and Joseph are at (presumably) her parents house, 'The Wood', Farley, Staffs.

Marriage registered of Samuel Firth and Anne Ash, Cheadle, 1st quarter 1850. Vol 17 page 46.
Death registered of Samuel Firth, Cheadle, 2nd quarter 1857. Vol 6b page 136

Derek we have something in common,I lived in Erdington for many years but before that I lived in Cheadle,Staffs where I was born and my parents married.

Hi Alberta.

When we left Greenway St in about 1952 we went to Turfton Grove, (now demolished - I remember the big fire at Castle Bromwich) and i started school in Padget Road (Think thats how its spelled - part of it at least is still there - may be a college or community centre) primary.

With mum and dad splitting up my two brothers and I then spent a two and a half year'ish period in childrens homes and with foster parents - (I think one family was RICE) ending up for about a year in Erdington, (I have the pictures of aston homes off the web) I was in one newish building, and my two brothers were together in a older one.

We 'broke out' one day and walked to Turfton Grove, but were captured and taken back!

in 1954 mum who had been very ill with TB was well enough to take us back to Liverpool and her parents.

many thanks for your assistance to date - and everyone else as well

There is nothing like this forum up North!

Hi all.

next piece of jigsaw

My GGfather was george francis John pearce b circa 1851 a gardiner from gloucester!

in 1881 the family was together - George, wife sarah a, sons George, Francis, Henry and daughter eleanor

in 1891 he was working away in Stroud, havnt found rest of family yet, but in 1901 Henry pearce and a Thomas Pearce were living with Jane Pearce a widow in Lozells

watch this space, or feel free to add anything you find

derick

PS The Firth bit from previous messages is correct, Henry Edward married Nellie firth in 1905

Hi all, i might have found my fathers first marriage - sending off for certificate - the one that was still in force when he 'first' married my mother!

Donald w pearce married hilda m staples 3rd qtr 1940

Just got Birth and death certificate for my brother RICHARD who sadly only lived three months in 1948

He was born in 15 Wake green road, and died in 77 Dudley road

anyone know who might have lived in these addresses?

15 wake green road is sorrento maternity hospital. 77 dudley road doesn't seem to be listed, but would be about where dudley road hospital was, which would fit
Mike

Thanks - yes 77 Dudley road was the address of the acute illness centre at the hospital - thought they would have put 'hospital' on the death certificate!

just back after 4 / 5 years away from the Forum
does anyone know anything about Pearce folk from the 1910's - Harold E 1912, frederick G 1914, samuel H 1907 (Think he went on to own a motor bike shop) Nellie 1910 and Francis 1911
