Wondered if this caption has an error. Was there ever a YMCA in 'Broad' Street ? Maybe it was meant to read 'Bristol Street' ?Screenshot_20260117_105939_Chrome.jpg

In the 1940 and 1943 Kellys there is no Broad Street address for the YMCA.
In 1943 there was the following:
Young Women's Christian Association Social Service Centre (Miss Kat.hln. Worster, genl. sec), 67 Broad
st 1 (Midland 6601) & 83 High st. Smethwick
I suppose the two organisations might have had joint events

I stayed at a YMCA in that area in the early 60's on one of my visits back to Brum. I'm not sure of it's exact location but it was at the bottom of Holloway Head close to Small Brook St and Bristol Rd.

Have moved posts to their own YWCA thread. It seems that there was a former YWCA accommodation building at the junction of Stone Road with Bristol Street.

Re the press cuttings post #1 and #3. The YWCA social services office listed in post #2 was probably a small office, not accommodation. I expect the substantial building below (at Stone Road) was the main, accommodation building, and probably connected to the Broad Street office for administration/social service matters.

The Stone Road building is still there, no longer YWCA.
