After getting copies of my grandads war records it says before he went to North Africa for 3 years he was based in great bar in the home guard
It states in his records he got a severe reprimand for “as his capacity as guard commander allowing 2 prisoners to escape” I know the American troops were based on the estate, but I wonder if anyone has any insight into what this could be

According to Google there was at least one temporary camp for German and Italian POWs in Great Barr in WW2.
Article I saw didn't say where though.
