Hi folks, my cousin in Canada has e-mailed me to ask if I can recall the old mine that was sited outside of the old market hall in the Bull Ring which was converted into a collection receptacle for charity. She obviously has a much better memory than me cos I just don't recall it at all. I have found mention of it in posts so her memories seem to be correct but I wondered if anyone might have a picture of it please?

I can remember seeing the old mine in the Bull Ring when I was a little girl. I wonder what happened to it.

Thanks old boy, that's great. I couldn't have had the right glasses on earlier cos I did try to have a look just in case a picture might have already been posted of it but I missed it!

I remember seeing mine/bomb cases in the city centre and maybe there is one by the fencing on the left of this 1946 photo which was in the forum post here/click, with some discussion in following posts.

I remember the red bomb/mine, just inside the market hall I think, at one of thte ends. I believe it still exists, possibly in the Dollman Street museum store??
 
Yes I think it is mentioned earlier on in the thread Eric. It was used for the Lord mayors fund (as Phil points out) but the Mines were for Seamen.

I am concerned that we now have two separate threads which both deal with a common subject. I am closing this thread and ask that folk add memories/comments to the original pointed out to us by Old Boy - Item 24.
