WW2 Bombings

I wonder if anyone could help me at all. I have just received a death certificate for my Grandfathers brother. His death is recorded on the CWGC site as `Civilian War Dead`, and the cause of his death on the cert` say`s; `Due to War Operations`, on 12 December 1940. At the time he lived in Acocks Green, but he is recorded as being killed in Raddlebarn Road, Selly Oak!. What I am trying to find out if possible is, did any bombings take place over Selly Oak on that particular date. I know it`s a long shot, no pun intended, but I would love be able to find out what he was doing in S.O. that brought about his end. Thanks in anticipation, Cresser.

Raddlebarn Road, could possibly mean Selly Oak Hospital, obviously the badly injured were taken to the nearest available hospital, he may well have died at the hospital and been injured elsewhere?

The site mentioned is very, very easy to use, you can search by name, location, date of injury or death ect.

The death toll on the nights of the 11/12th December were very high.

Chris, Thanks very much for your help. Barra was a site I did`nt know about, and it has helped with this request, and one now in my favourites, Cheers..Cresser.

Thats a really interesting & useful site isn't it? Found a couple of names & dates on there. Thanks for the link.:)

dib44, Yes, on thinking about it, your very probably correct. I more than likely mis-read the cert`, and thanks for your reply, I appreciate it cheers.Cresser
