gone but not forgotten
Can anyone help with this detail of my Dad's records. What could be the word after 'Unit: advanced' please?

That looks like a hurriedly written "D", Michael.
If it is I would say the word is "Det", an abbreviation of Detachment.

Next question:
can anyone explain what the 30 (motor) airline section might be? Related to Royal Engineers, Signals Company. Many thanks
(ps for maypolebazz the original replies seem to have returned)

Could you tell me where to look for details for this man who fought in WW1 and survived. I'm used to looking for soldiers who died but at a loss for those who survived.

WHITEHEAD A.P. Station House, Chester Road.
1st City of Birmingham Battalion.

Many thanks for ideas, pointers etc.
