Workhouse Infirmary 99 Dudley Rd 1 Western Road

Hi, may i also ask, as I am reading conflicting infomation.

In 1940, a death listed being at 1 Western Road. (There was also another address above) would that have been the hospital? As i can see my great uncle passed away in in 1945 and his does say 77 Dudley Road (which I presume is the hospital) However, his fathers states 1 Western Road in 1940.

Thanks
May I ask what the other address is?

As the workhouse/hospital was on the corner of Western Road and Dudley Road it seems to have used both addresses. I don't know if one was used more for the hospital and one for the workhouse.
1940s map. Just for clarity - yellow is Western Road and blue is Dudley Road

I am guessing but would think that might have been the home address.
1939 electoral roll for 3 Starbank road - are any of these the person referred to?

The Pages were still there on the 1945 eroll.

Hi,

Many thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

Yes I did. However, it makes sense now. I had not researched some of his children.

Caroline Pardoe (married Rawlings) and then re married Herbert Page. However, she was initially on the census in 1921 as his ‘housekeeper’ her children from first marriage as ‘boarders’ and their child together is Lillian Irene (Robinson)

Richard Pardoe was living at his other daughters house (Ellen Elizabeth Feakes) in 1921 that was 20, Philliamore Road, Satley.

I was just trying to work out if 1 Weston Road was the hospital or something else. I presume it was a hospital.

Thanks alot

The addresses are confusing. the 1940 Kellys on Western Road just lists

The 1946 Kellys lists

So it is definitely the hospital, but looks like the western Road address is the administration offices address, whereas the Dudley road address is the main hospital address
