I lived at 43 Blackford Street some 63 years ago. At that time our house backed onto an alleyway the other side of which were the shops on the main Road. I attended Barford Road school and remember distinctly a young lady named Marcia France (I think it was France). All around us lived older people and as I remember all the women wore long black dresses and black Boots. At the top of the Alley was a woman who was quite short and dressed as described who all the kids were terrified of but for some reason I liked her and we got on well although I was only about six.
Winson Green Prison used to be a tool for dispatching prisoners who were not deemed fit for this world and a bell used to ring just before the deed was done (Creepy)
I would love to hear from anyone who was there around 1950-52.
Maybe you remember me?
