The 'then' pictures are taken from old postcards, the 'now' pictures taken from Google Streetview.
The older of the pictures is thought to date from the 1930's.
This postcard view seems to have been taken from position in the modern Streetview attached below
Opposite this view is a memorial, located within the green at the junction of Sycamore Road, Laburnum Road and Willow Road, enclosed by a low octagonal hedge and path. Openings in the hedge give access to the memorial.
The memorial is a lantern cross of Weldon stone on an octagonal plinth and inscribed : REMEMBER/ 1914-1919.
This Bournville Memorial Cross, unveiled by Mrs Cadbury in 1923, is Grade II listed because of, as well as remembering 35 fallen men during WW1, it's architectural style of elegant lantern cross in the medieval style and as part of a group valuemwith #10 and #12 Sycamore Road (Grade II).
