Typical AFS Wartime Fire Station Hobmore Road Small Heath. The man in the Anti-Gas Clothing must stand-by fully dressed for his shift. The tall man at the back is my dad.

An interesting photo, especially the white top covers. I wonder if the cups and shield were part of the BFSA (British Fire Services Association) who regularly held completions in firemanship throughout the UK.

No I don't think so the white cap covers were part of the undress uniform for the Birmingha Fire Brigade during that era. They competed for their own trophies which were still in us when I joined in the 50s
