william earp b1868

No, I have limited knowledge of them only that mom had William as her father on wedding certificate. She told me he died two weeks before the armistice was signed no name on her birth certificate. Her mom was married to Harry Earp (Williams brother)who died 1916 in the war mom born Jan1918 so he couldn't have been her father. Mom was born at Claybrook St so if William is on electoral roll there we would have him because her mom describes herself as a housewife.

in 1920 theres just phyllis earp listed at 1 court 2 claybrook street.
in 1922 phyllis earp and matthew murphy at same address
by 1925 matthew and phyllis murphy at same address, so obviously got married.

there are quite a few william earps so not sure which would be yours, but none at claybrook street.

I have just found a record that I thought I had lost it is from the National Roll of Honour:
Earp W Segt Lancashire Fusiliers. After volunteering July 1915 he underwent a period of training prior to beibg drafted to the Western Fronf in March 1917. There he saw severe fighting at La Bassee, Festubert and Bethune, took part also in the Battle of Ypres and was gassed at Givenchy in November 1917. He was invalided home and was for a time in hospital before being demobilised in March 1919. H holds thr General Service medal and Victory medal. 46 Markham St Manchester Z5958.
This could be the William I am looking for so now have a bit more information to look up.

It was the National Trust Back to Baks that re-kindled my interest in the Birmingham family. Mom was born in Claybrook St and I was born at my grandmothers palce in Hirstcroft road South Yardely. What a long time ago but the stories mom told me came to life once I had read the booklet and saw the pictures of the back to backs. I now live in New Zealan and have been here for almost 40 years longer than in the Uk, if I manage to get back again I will go and stay in the rental cottages.
I think we could be related
