William Charles House;

PYork

proper brummie kid
I am working on my family brick wall.

William Charles House [1858-1939] is my GG Grandfather. On census records he states he is from Reading but not able to connect him to the William House names found there. I have him in a partnership relationship with Nancy Tizard House from Dorset. No marriage records have been found. Interestingly enough, there is family lore that he may not actually be a "House" as it may be an assumed name.

Their children were
Alice Mary House [1887-1969]
Fredrick Tizard House [1891-1948] my G Grandfather m. Ada Vaughan
Nancy House Dangerfield [1917-1980]
William (Bill) T House [1919-1998] was a gardener for Birmingham city gardens
Dennis S House [1921-1986]
Alwyne Constance (Connie) House Harrison [1922-2013] my grandmother moved to USA after WW2 marriage w Yankee!
Raymond (Ray) R House [1925-1991]
Fredrick (Fred) C House [1927-1999]
Ronald (Ron) J House [1930-2011]

Gedmatch kits I manage and are related are

https://app.gedmatch.com/OneToManyTier1Full.php?kit_num=UM6380427

Then this kit is related somehow as well. We are in contact w each other. This match is 4-6 generations away and has Gilks as a last name.

He and I have been working on this on My Heritage where his primary tree is.

Other known and verified family surnames are Vaughan (West Midlands, England), Woodward (Birmingham), Northwood (Birmingham) and Tizard (Dorset, England).

I would love to chat when convenient. I live in South Carolina GMT-5. I am also on Ancestry https://www.ancestry.com/invite-ui/accept?token=1oXpu7Q7aDfiOfcnhP3x7-oMhBm--F6BgTMYohug6Ek=

Thanks for your time and help!

There is a birth registration for a William Charles House Sept. 1858 in S. Stoneham. This is in Hampshire. Not sure what county Reading was in in 1926 as it is Berkshire now, which is next to Hampshire. Have you got his birth certificate?

Have you seen the 1911 census records for Clara and William Alfred House? Both single and both born in Reading. Could they be brother and sister or other relative? Was William (William's son b. 1919) born in Dorset? Just looking for them all on the 1939 register.

Frederick Tizzard House and Alice Mary House's mother's maiden name was Tizzard.

All the other children in your list had a mother's maiden name of Vaughan. This would suggest that William Charles had another relationship after Tizzard. You probably noticed there is a big gap between 1891 and 1917, also if Tizzard was the mother of all those children there are 40 odd years from first to last born, so unlikely.

From the 1921 census, it looks like mother Vaughan had the first names of Ada Emma. Not sure as I do not have subscription to FMP, just looking at the index.

Found a William Charles, born Reading, living with a Florence, no one else on the record.

Possible death reg for Nancy House Dec. qtr. 1918, Birmingham age 64 Just realised that the children with MMN Vaughan are your grandfathers, not your great grandfathers.

Have you seen the 1871 census entry for Nancy Tizard, living with parents in Bradford Peverell, Dorset, age 16 born about 1855.

In 1871 Nancy's sister lived with the family. I have found her birth reg. in Dorchester (Fanny). Nancy was registered in Sept 1854, also Dorchester. None of this info. helps though does it!

Thank you for this. Since I am not very familiar with the geography this passed me. I will order the cert.

Have not seen the census for Clara and WA. Will look into it more.
I have Nancy Tiz(z)ard fairly well documented with primary sources except for marriage cert. Not sure how she went from Dorset to Warwickshire.

Yes, Have Fredrick T House and Ada Emma Vaughan's primary documents. Little mystery there.

Sometimes the strangest thread reveals a clue! Was not certain that Alice Mary House survived childhood. Through DNA, I found her in London with a illegitimate child during WW1. She named her daughter Freda Patricia. My name is Patricia Ann. My mom never knew she had a great aunt named Alice!

South Stoneham is almost in Southampton so I would be surprised if that ended up being referred to as a birth in Reading.
Reading always seems to have been in Berkshire as well.

Thanks, I always try to back up a paper trail with a dna confirmation if possible.
