Hi - I am looking for information about the White Horse Inn at Digbeth. One of my ancestors worked there as a groom in the 1800's. Thomas Reynolds born abt 1828. I cannot find any information and would appreciate some assistance. Jan

I cannot find a White horse in Digbeth, but McKenna, in "Central Birmingham Pubs" mentions a post 1715 pub of that name, of unknown address, in the bull ring. The bull ring ran into digbeth, so at some time it might have been described as digbeth. McKenna confuses the issue by apparently in the next sentence calling it the White lion, but I think that is a misprint, as he is earlier referring to the black lion.
There is also the White Hart at 139 digbeth.

Hi Mike - my apologies for the delay in responding. I will look further for more positive information on my bloke. I am currently putting everything together in big books so it will be a bit of a search. One thing it has taught me - I am putting together my life so my future generations (assuming there will be some) will be able to track me - what I did and where. Once again Mike thanks - maybe I read it wrong and it was the White Hart.

Best wishes from a very hot Australia - Jan

Did you ever track it down? I have a picture of an Ansells pub "The White" something. Sometimes I'm sure it say's Horse
other times the "r" dont look right, but what else can it be? Can't be Hart too many letters. Don't know where it was, it's not
listed by Ansell's on their list of former houses. Spent a lot of time in the city centre and in Digbeth in the 70s but can't place it. https://gallery.fulford.net/picture.php?/14325/category/604
