Secondly, this is somewhere in Birmingham in 1906 and is the last steam tram, but any idea, where? The rails are in the process of being removed.

i also noticed that pedro.. is this map any helpThere is a Beehive Lorry in picture and the Beehive has address of Albert Road. This is near 52 Moor Street.
Car 436 of 1912 originally open topped, fitted with top cover 1924/5. On service 42 to Alcester Lanes End via Bradford Street and Moseley Road. If the caption is correct the 42 route was replaced by buses, route 50 to Maypole.1/10/49.
Opposite direction view along Albert StThis photo shows a drive adjusting the points. the banner to the left indicates Little & Son. The 1939, 1946,1949 and 1955 kellys shows them at 52 Moor St. However the maps post warn show no building on that site, and junction looks wrong. Any suggestions as to where it is?

spot on jan...you can see it says army hostel on the building in mikes photo
never mind mike...sorted nowStupid me. Misread numbering on map
Points were often changed electrically - the trolley head energised a connection as it passed over it which changed the points. some were done manually by a lever inserted into the track to move the sliding rails, trailing points were held by spring and the wheels flipped them as they passed over them. Overhead wire points (called 'Frogs') were mostly changed by the conductor pulling a rope on a nearby street pole.An interesting photo. Don't know how I imagined points were changed on tramlines, but certainly not like that shown in the photo. Another piece of information added to my education !
