Where is this vehicle ?

Two steam trams without locations. Firstly, a #16 tram to Aston. Any idea where this is located ?

Secondly, this is somewhere in Birmingham in 1906 and is the last steam tram, but any idea, where? The rails are in the process of being removed.

The name in the second photo is Ambler Bros.
They are funeral undertakers on the Alcester Road between Moseley and Kings Heath today.
I will see if I can find them in 1906.

Update;
1905 Kelly's Directory they are at 22 Longmore Street.
I don't know if that is where the photo was taken or not as it may just be an advertising board. The location does not look as if in the city

This photo shows a drive adjusting the points. the banner to the left indicates Little & Son. The 1939, 1946,1949 and 1955 kellys shows them at 52 Moor St. However the maps post warn show no building on that site, and junction looks wrong. Any suggestions as to where it is?

Car 436 of 1912 originally open topped, fitted with top cover 1924/5. On service 42 to Alcester Lanes End via Bradford Street and Moseley Road. If the caption is correct the 42 route was replaced by buses, route 50 to Maypole.1/10/49.

Opposite direction view along Albert St

Of the three vehicles present, KDH 686 and GOB 959 were both registered either late 1946 or early 1947, while DOX 917 was new in February or March 1938, which fits with the 1949 date. pjmburns' map (#40) shows the buildings still present in 1951 (or whenever the map was drawn, not long before) and confirms the view is looking towards High Street (or Dale End, if you prefer).

An interesting photo. Don't know how I imagined points were changed on tramlines, but certainly not like that shown in the photo. Another piece of information added to my education !

Points were often changed electrically - the trolley head energised a connection as it passed over it which changed the points. some were done manually by a lever inserted into the track to move the sliding rails, trailing points were held by spring and the wheels flipped them as they passed over them. Overhead wire points (called 'Frogs') were mostly changed by the conductor pulling a rope on a nearby street pole.
