Where is This Schools #7

Phil

Gone, but not forgotten.
Heres a nice modern school, well compared to the rest, what I'm after is the name the school was called when the photo was taken. There is something in the photo that differentiates it from today.

Looking at the building I'd guess it's a secondary school and maybe the feature that differentiates it fom tiday is that the entrance has been moved? All guesswork. Viv.

pollypops

nicely worked out, but I should mention that there has always been a girls school on the site though.

Oh I'll have a go... Great Barr County Modern Boys and Girls Schools/Great Barr Comp on Aldridge Road? Viv.

It is Handsworth Wood Boys School that later became Handsworth Wood Girls School after a fire I believe. The original girls school is still there I believe at the front of this school. That I believe is an Academy (whats the difference) I worked here before the fire demolishing the old technical education block, I have never seen such an undisciplined school in all the schools we worked at, no wonder they closed it.

Hi phil
do you know this pic was on the site afew years back and it reminded me of a complex years ago that i knew and at that time
was a complex that i knew ; but it causes me a troubled mind at the moment so i am ratling my brain as to whenand where it is
that being the complex and it was shon on here about four years ago ;
but i expect some one will vcome up with the answer before me ; best wishes astonian;

This is a photo of the whole complex that is on Church Rd Handsworth that I grabbed off Google. I noticed that the front complex that is or was the performing arts academy was boarded up at the time Google photographed it. I wasn't even built at the time we worked on the site, and that was less than 25 years ago, is that how long schools last now? Does anybody know if it is open now?
