Gone, but not forgotten.
Right Jean North Birmingham it is, by telling you this I immediately cut the answers to this puzzle in half. So no clues this time.

What I want to know is what's the location and name of this road and as a bonus can you tell me what was the anomaly relating to the pub on the left during the 50's.

Aston John was the first with the location and the name of the pub.

The Greyhound on Court Lane at the Border of Erdington & Sutton,

but nobody has yet told me what the anomaly was.

The licensing laws were different in Sutton and Erdington in the 50's.
The border cut through the pub, so at closing time people just moved to a different room and carried on drinking.
