Where is This? 113

Phil

Gone, but not forgotten.
Any ideas, no clues at the moment as I think this may go quickly.

No idea where it is, but is that one of the first world war memorials on the right hand side pillar of the gate?

Its not very clear is it, but, its entirely possible as the photo dates back to 1921.

Go along with that Rupert wouldn't like to be there on a dark night. Right Phyl is it CHANEY WALK OR LOVERS WALK?. Jean.

i think you,re gong to have to give us a clue Phil,
where ever it is it,s scary, looks like somewhere jack the ripper mite hang out.
regards Derek.

Is it up a side road from Bulpitts. There used to be an anodising company by the name of Lustre Finish. Can't remember the name of the street. Jean. Camden street comes to mind.

phil..the road on the left... is some of it still there....actually i dont think its a road..just wanted to know if it still exists..

Like the majority of posters here I find the photo wonderfully atmospheric almost scary. Yes ,Jack the Ripper does come to mind. I wouldn't have a clue but love the picture.

i agree... this is one of phils most scariest pics yet.. my 1st instinct was by them arches on the way to birmingham city football club...i think it comes under nechells...bet im way off beam.....

Nobody has got within a good Walk of it yet, I used this a a short cut often in my youth. I believe it still remains today, in a much altered and extended condition. I do not think there is an original building left standing.

Phil

Pyl that's going on a bit. Go on tell us where you were in your youth?. That will give us a clue. Jean.

o great phil.. now all we have to do is try to remember if you have mentioned shorts cuts of your youth...lol...this is going to be another good one...

lyn

jean...i was thinking that....it would take us forever to read phils previous posts...i reckon we are going to have to keep taking wild guesses...phil you were brave to tread round there..

Sounds like a good book title "shorts cuts of your youth"

Phil

bet you could indeed write a book about yer shortcuts phil... but we wont go into it....lol...ok narrows it down a tad...on the right it certainly looks like a street or road but can you tell us if the opening on the left is the same road or street as it dont look like it to me....

lyn

Another guess, is it Cannon Street? I took many a shortcut through this street in my (misspent!!?) youth.

judy... someone is bound to get it eventually..phil can you post the tel numbers of some of your old mates like we can phone them up...lol

lyn

hurst st.....

The trouble is you ladies get too flustered, just calm down and think logically about the problem. You say it looks a scary place. I can assure you that a lady might well walk down this road anytime of the day or night.

Phil

ladies..me thinks phil is enjoying this....so its a road then phil...thanks for the clue....it may not be the city centre then...but a road leading out of it.
