Can anyone tell me what regiment that this soldier was in, the only clues are his collar dogs. The photo was taken in Northampton in 1937.
Also what do the letters LG mean on his left arm?
I think it's The Royal Warwickshire Regt. possibly a pals battalion judging by the amount of badge/ words below the antelope,Where's Terry he should be able to tell you for certain.
Yes it may be the Royal Warks. The Badges I
have looked at show the Antelope the other way
for Birmingham Buff Battalions.
Caps and Badges show thousands of Regimental
decorations on-line.
Cromwell or Terry should sought this one out.
Tried to enlarge badge. Not much luck.
Blown the picture up till all the Pixels
have blown up.
The badge on his LH Lapel shows the
Antelope appearing to have its head to the LHS
This would line up with all Badges shown of The
Royal Warks.
Clearly his RH Lapel badge shows the Antelope
looking towards his throat.
This is I think for Matching purposes on the Lapel.
Collar dogs are usually a handed pair, the ones in the photo show he was an officer. He also appears to be wearing a no.1 dress uniform. I have a pair of ORs (other ranks) dogs which were my grandfathers these do not have the regiment name underneath.
Hello folks. Yes he is a Royal Warwickshire soldier in his best uniform on his wedding day. He is a Private and has a Lewis Gunner badge on his arm. After WW1 it became standard for other ranks to wear coller dogs on their uniform tunics.
Thank you all very much, the lady who's father it is never met him or knew anything about him, the photo is her only one that she has got. Once again, thanks.
