what a view

John
That reminded me of an old photo I found Wash day in the tunnel backs

TWO great photos! And, seeing the plans reminds me of two little anecdotes:

A neighbour, in Wellington Street, was sitting on his bed with his back against the dividing wall of his back-to-back when he suddenly yelped, seemingly for no reason. It transpired that the back of his head had been pierced by a nail driven into the opposite side of the wall by his next door neighbour.

A friend in Musgrave Road decided to remove the shelves at the top of his cellar steps. The shelves were supported on large spikes sticking out of the wall. Cyril thought he'd done a great job pulling out the spikes until his next door neighbour came banging the door, wanting to know why his shelves had fell down as well.

These houses might not have been posh but they provided a lot of entertainment. ^-^

Strange thing growing up in Nechells in the 50's I don't remember much colour everything seemed grey

 Crommie mate, that's because the Gasometers were all black and were not painted blue till the 60's. I watched two chaps paint the Windsor St ones from Mom and Dad's bedroom window.

Michael took this photo today from the M6. I thought it might revive and old thread with some great photo's
