I travelled on them many times when I was a kid, on the 74 and 75 route like in the photo, West Bromwich to Birmingham. The route was shared by West Bromwich Corporation and Birmingham (this is pre WMPTE). Once a year it was to see Father Christmas in Lewis's. They used to stop outside Snow Hill station and return via Constitution Hill. Years later, I reluctantly used the 74 or 75 to get to Rookery Road Handsworth to get on the no. 11 outer circle to Witton. This was only when my own transport had broken down which was often.

I used to like that different towns, cities etc. had different colour buses. Birmingham: dark blue/cream, West Brom: lighter blue/cream, Walsall: blue, Wolverhampton: was it green/yellow? not sure. Gave them some identity unlike today when (I think) all West Midlands buses are red? Also, Walsall retained trolley buses later than other midland boroughs. I thought they were excellent. Much better than trams.
Also, West Bromwich buses almost always had the local reg. no.ending EA and Birmingham OA, OB,OC etc.
(my wife often picks me up for using Black Country pronunciation buzzes, no she says, they're busses.)
