Wattis Family - Birmingham 1930s onwards

Brummie babby
Hi all

I am trying to find anyone who knew the Wattis family who originally lived in Kitchener Road, Selly Park. I know one of the daughters moved to Kings Norton in around the 1950s. I believe there were three sisters and one brother although my information here may be incorrect.

I would love to hear from anyone who knew the family or have any memories of them at all.

Really hoping someone can help.

Thanks

PS I have posted this in the wrong section - should be under the section for W!! Does anyone know how I move it please???

Moved as requested

The 1950 electoral roll lists Louis, Violet, Ivy and Gwendoline all living at 70 Kitchener Road.

Ivy married John Caffery in 1951 and is listed as being granted probate for both Louis and Violet who died in 1952 (Louis first). She is listed as living at 20 Springfield Road Selly Oak on the 1955 electoral roll (that is as far as I can go online).

There is a marriage for Gwendoline to an Austin Jeavons in 1950 and in 1955 they are listed at 25 Hyde Road. Birth records seem to show a third sister Edna.

Hope this helps

Janice

I have jsut founda marriage for Edna to Robert Shorthouse and they are listed at 64 Brandwood Park Road, Kings Norton in 1950

Hi Janice

Thank you so much for taking the time to get that information together. There are more family members than I had thought if there was an Edna so that could be another route to try.

Thanks again it is much appreciated.

Hi greenie
I suggest you look at Coventry road hay mills I think it was 864 facing asda today cafertys lived there john and I think it was violet as well as other females

Hi

Thanks for your response. All information very gratefully received!

Was it the Caffery's that your wife knew in their younger days or the Wattis'? If it was the Wattis family that would be really helpful. I understand that Ivy married John Caffrey but it is one of her sisters that I am more focused on so wonder if she may have known the whole family?

Thanks again

Hi greenie
My wife and her family knew the caffers my wife knew a couple of the older girls personally and her older brother Martin.
Knew the father years ago and the son but sadly my wife's brother got murdered so we cannot asked him
I can only asked my wife to possibly name the oider daughter whom she knew very well as a neibour and as a school friend
And her oldest sister lives in nuneaton she would recall the parents as they knew them before we moved next to them oncoventry road
As I have said previously best wishes astonian,,,

Hi Astonian

Thanks. If your wife knew Eileen Wattis or was aware of information relating to her that came from her sisters then that would be fantastic. Would you mind asking her for me please?
