Watery Lane

My grandfather Tom Curley was born at 9 Court 1 St Andrews Road on April 29th 1918....... His parents James & Gertrude Curley were still there on the 1927 Electrol Roll. Later moving to Alma St Aston as landlord to the Salutation Inn. Tom was a variety entertainer and stand up comedian. He stood on the terraces of St Andrews every home game!
Hi,

I believe we could be distance relatives. I'm the great great granddaughter of possibly James's Brother - Thomas Curley. I believe there were a lot of Curley's around at this time so we might not be. Do you have details of James mother and father. Thomas's were John Curley and Katherine Curley

John

What is also interesting is that my 1st cousin 1 removed, Violet Lilian Rogers, who lived at 5 court 26, married a Charles Henry Noel Sheppard and then they moved to Gravelly Hill. Wonder if there is a connection between the shopowners you mention even thought the spelling is different?

Suzanne
Hi Suzanne
I am the daughter of William Thomas Rogers, brother of Violet. They lived in there. And my dad married my mom Catherine Irene Starling known as Rene, who lived next door granny Rogers. Mom dad moved to Erdington in the late 50s
