The Tysley cinema building and the Watsonian building next door, are both surprisingly still standing on Warwick Road, although the cinema frontage has changed. (Cinema image from cinemastreasures.org, modern image from Google Streetview). Viv.

And this is the junction of Knights Road, Tyseley Hill, Warwick Road where a few notable changes have been made in recent years. No date with this image, but it must be early in the 20th century.

Hard to believe Phil, but that row of shops to the left, and the pub/off-licence(?) on the corner of Knights Road look like they are all still there. (Google Streetview below). Very surprising given the amount of change to so many of the nearby buildings. Viv.

Back up Warwick Road to Tyseley and the junction with Reddings Lane, on the one side a group of local shops on the other side Yardley Grammar School which became plain Yardley Secondary Modern some years before it was demolished and replaced by apartments.

Tricky one this one, where is/was it ? “on one of Birmingham’s main roads”. It’s 1939 and the (false) start of petrol rationing .... Viv.

Hi..This looks like the petrol station that I worked for in the 1960s Its on the junction of Warwick Road and Wharfdale Road Tyseley Its now a Enterpise car rental.

Hi..Just remembered...The garage in the 1960's was called The Mini Centre..It sold the BMC Mini and 1100 models. The showroom was on the site of the houses with the advertising hoardings.

I forgot this folder so we have a garage Warwick Road Tyseley in 1980, not much to see apart from a nice selection of terrace backs which I believe is on top of the railway embankment. Ford Escort on the forecourt and the old Players advert.

Does anyone have any memories of cafes run by Lil and Chris Livesey in Warwick Road, Tyseley next to the Klaxton Factory, or in the meat market in Jamaica Row?

581 Warwick Road Tyseley

I hope to find information, especially photographs, about a Garage business, run around 50 years ago, by a rally driver, Mr Toney Cox, at this address
With thanks
David

Thanks for your advice. David

I think that's the wrong way Lyn.
Johnson is 591 to 603. The garage must have been where the gap is next to Choice.

Does anyone have photos of what was in the car park, between Choice and the Work Association please?
as you can see from my map on post 7 the garage at 581 was where the car park now is..i will search my old photos tomorrow and post if i find any

I notice that Toney Cox also had a garage/dealership at 723-725 Stratford Road, Sparkhill .... on the corner of Greswolde Road. I thought the name was familiar.
