Hi Phil,
I was amazed to see my old house on 'The News'.
I lived next door to Dora from 1974 to 1984. It is incredible what gets lost from view!
I take a keen interest in family history these days so I found this story fascinating.
Well done!

Peter

Welcome to the Forum Peter. Thanks for posting. I'm sure Phil and Valerie will be pleased to see your comment - I think other members will be too. And many of us on here have started off from a family history interest, so you're in good company. Viv.

this thread may interest some of our new members..such a great story and the last post gives a link to the report made by central news but remember to read from post 1...if anyone finds or has anything they would like to give to any surviving family please let us know as i am sure there will be plenty of offers of help to track them down...

A bit more of Walters ancestry, he was the son of Walter Harrison and Elizabeth Holland who married in Stafford in 1892, Elizabeth died in Birmingham in 1897.

Marriage Stafford 1892,
Walter Harrison age 24 , father Robert , address Aston
Elizabeth Holland age 22 father Henry address Grey friars, Stafford.

Alberta - if you read post 2 you will see his Father remarried and his stepmother was called Harriet. This was from "soldiers effects" and also links to newspaper notice (post 10) as addresses match.
Thanks for that additional info.
