Walker. William Thomas

Maggie D

proper brummie kid
Searching for the family of William Thomas Walker born 1875. William was a fireman who served at Central Fire Station, Lingard Street Fire Station and Sparkhill Fire Station. He was in the fire service from 1903 to 1929. His wife's name was Lily. They had a son called William Thomas Walker who was born in 1908/9.
William (snr) had brother's Arthur Samuel Walker and Harry Walker and a sister Mabel Walker (my husbands grandmother).
I would love to catch up with any of the family.

and i see the quite often ; i shall give them a mention ; to them ;
one never knows its a small world you know ; best wishes astonian;

Hi Astonian,
Thank you for your reply. Looking at the electoral rolls William lived in Sparkhill (a few doors away from the Fire Station) in the 1920's, I think that they moved to Hall Green after that. Harry Walker owned the Gate Inn, Icknield St before moving on to the British Oak in Stirchley and then moved to Redditch, he had a son Robert. Arthur Samuel Walker owned the Cottage of Content and The Cannon Hill, he had a son Arthur William. There was also a Stanley Walker who lived in Stirchley, he had two daughters Sandra and Marie who were born in the early 1950's. He would have been either Harry's or Arthurs son.
It is so hard once your parents have passed to try and work out the jigsaw pieces of family history but I will keep on plodding on. I would welcome any information.
Regards
Margaret
