Walker family 1867 to present day

Hi, I'm researching my Nan's family. My Nan was Anna Walker born 1913 to Albert Henry Walker and Sarah Ann (was Adderley/Hadley). It was a very large family. I believe my Nan was the youngest of 17 children! I'm on Ancestry and awaiting DNA results. There are various addresses for them, mostly around Aston and Highgate area. I have names of 13 children so far, but if anyone can help it would be appreciated. The names I have so far are Thomas, Charles, Frederick, William, Nellie (could be Ellen), Albert, Alice, Harold, Ellen, Harry, Sissy and Sarah Ann. I have memories of Uncle Fred, Uncle Bill and Auntie Alice. Thanks.

There appear to be 10 Walker/Adderley births registered plus Anna as Walker/Hadley. Can't see a registration for Thomas, William or Charles.

One is a Leah Hannah b1906 d1907.

You have both a Nellie and an Ellen listed which is probably just one and I'd also guess that Sissy is Sarah Ann.

Which makes 14 atm - Thomas, Albert Henry, Alice Elizabeth, Nellie, William, Mabel, Francis Frederick, Charles, Mabel Mary, Leah Hannah, Sarah Ann, Harry, Harold and Anna.

Thank you, I have all those names. I don't think Leah, walter, Arthur Frank and Ernest are siblings. Their mother was Sarah Ann (was Greaves). They are all very common names for the time, gets confusing. I don't remember my Nan ever talking about a Leah, but I could be wrong. I know that some of the children didn't survive long. The Greaves connection keeps coming up on Ancestry but I'm just not convinced yet. More research to be done. On the plus side, I have discovered a second cousin. Thank you for your assistance it Is much appreciated.

Sarah Ann Adderley married an Albert Henry Walker marriage registered Dec 1888. That fits the years married on 1911 census - 24 years

Sarah Ann Greaves married an Albert Walker marriage reg in Mar 1889.

When we were children we had a Walker family as near neighbours in Hurlingham Road Kingstanding, , would be around number 109, many of the tenants there were, like my parents, moved in from Aston when the new houses were first occupied.. can't help with any more than that.
Just a thought, they would have to be on the 1939 register.

Leah Hannah's birth reg. was definitely listed with mmn Addeley so I'd be fairly confident that she was theirs.

As it seems that they didn't register all the births of their children for some reason it maybe they didn't register the missing ones either. They still may have registered their deaths but the only way to find that out would probably to see the death reg. for local Walker children that they died young - expensive.

However, if you're extrapolating the number of children from what they've listed for 'Children born alive...' section on the 1911 census it maybe that that is just wrong, which is not uncommon.

Charles is registered as Charley
