Does anyone know of any one with this surname , My father Michael came from a large family and lived in the Aston area.

this is probably a wild goose chase but its worth a go.
my dad was born in aston in 1923, he had a stepbrother Mick(Michael)
there werealso many other siblings because my nan was married 2 or 3 times
Uncle Mick was married to Hilda, and had 2 sons(Michael and Brian) and 3 daughters Patty Rita and Brenda My cousin Brian although i have not seen him for 2 years has a petshop just up the road from the MacDonalds place at New Oscott.
I don't see them too often because I live near Edinburgh (my Dad came to Scotland after the war and vowed never again to live in Aston) but all the siblings are still alive. I hope this can be of some help to you.

Regards from Edinburgh Frankie

I too need info on the following surnames Wainman, Asson Hurley and Sutton

Hi Frankie

If the shop you refer to was on the College Rd by Twickenham Rd then they have not been there for a few years now.

Hi again, its been a while since i sent you a p.m. About michael wainman. Have you been lucky enough to find out any more about your father?
Its not a very common name and as i said before, my dads brother was michael wainman from aston. I know that at one point, he lived in paddington street before moving to kingstanding. By any chance are you going to the "meet" on saturday in the stags head? It would be nice to meet you and compare any
news of the wainman family. Hope to hear from you again, frankie

hi there
i am not a relative or have any info on the wainmans but this is so weird, just a couple of days ago i was talking about hilda.
they were friends of my mom and dad from way way back, i think from before any of them were married.
to my mom and dad they were micky sutton and hilda green though we knew they were wainmans.
the last time i saw hilda would be sometime in the 1980s. my dad died in 1981 and i think mick had already died but not sure.
my mom died in 1999 so i cant ask them.

sorry i cant help with any info

Thats really weird !!!! Did you know my surname was sutton? I always knew uncle mick as wainman and his children also use that name.
You're correct in saying mick was already dead, he died a long time before auntie hilda. In saying that, as i said before my gran had a few "partners" and the children all used different names, only one of my aunts is listed on her wedding certificate as wainman and she was a good bit younger that mick.
When my gran died in 1957 she was buried using the surname "hurley" can you tell me where hilda lived the last time you saw her? She moved from lozells/aston a long time ago to kingstanding. I've tried for years to complile a family tree, but because of all the different names, i've found it almost impossible.
Thanks for getting in touch, frank sutton

hi frank
the only address i know that hilda lived at was Fernhill Grove Kingstanding i cant remember the number but its only a very small grove.
my daughter lives on the corner of the grove about six or seven houses away. maybe electoral rolls will tell you, like when they went there.
i dont envy you looking for multi marriages its hard enough when they have only married once.
hope the address helps

lynne

yes you're correct, it was 10 fernhill grove over in the corner. by any chance do you know where any of the children micky, brian, brenda or patty went to? i've tried the bt phone book but i know that a lot of people in brum are now with virgin media for their phones, but i can't find a directory of virgin customers. its amazing to find someone who knew my family i can't thank you enough for getting in touch. i am travelling down from edinburgh tomorrow for the get together in the stags head, its a pity you couldn't be there for a natter.

many thanks again frank sutton

hi frank,
sorry i dont know where any of the kids went though some of them must have been local because they used to visit hilda often.
In an old 1994 phone book there is a M J Wainman but thats over 15 years ago. Have you found the girls marriages maybe their married names can help.
Have a safe journey tomorrow and a good time at the stag. i hope members post photos for us all to see.

regards

lynne
