Here's some info just to confuse ME :)
DENNIS VOWLES
Christening: 13 AUG 1804 - Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwick, England
Father: JOSEPH VOWLES
Mother: ELIZABETH

DENNIS VOWLES
Christening: 06 DEC 1809 - Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwick, England
Father: JOSEPH VOWLES
Mother: ELIZABETH

(Both of these are IGI extracted entries)

I think these are the parents:
(IGI Extracted)
JOSEPH VOWLES
Spouse: ELIZABETH STEWARD
Marriage: 14 OCT 1801 - Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwick, England

Is there anymore information on the wedding certificate?

your dates are correct. there is an extra bit of info for dennis vowles - that he was born on 22 feb 1808.

there is nothing else on the register for these early years.

i have found the marriage though of the parents, also at st. martins.

joseph vowels of this parish bachelor, and elizabeth steward of this parish WIDOW were married in this church by licence 14th oct 1801. joseph vowels signed his name, elizabeth made a cross.

the witnesses were george biker and susanna collyer

ive also found a baptism. dennis son of joseph and elizabeth vowles born 23rd july last. and the baptism was on 13th august 1804

ive found this marriage which "could" be elizabeth.

thomas steward of this parish widower and elizabeth rogers of this parish spinster were married in this church by licence 23rd dec 1798.
both thomas and elizabeth signed with a cross. the witnesses were samuel brooke and william loynes

Thank you for the quick reply Shera. I'm wondering about this Dennis born in 1804. could he have died early seeing as my ancestor, also Dennis was born in 1808?
These double names confuse me.

i think theres a good possibility that the marriage of thomas steward to elizabeth rogers is your family as i can see a burial of a thomas steward at st. martins on 15th july 1801.

the first dennis must have died. it was very common to give later children the name of those who had died. i did look for a burial of dennis vowles but there is none transcribed. a lot of the records for these years are illiegible so it is probably there but cannot be read.

Elisabeth married again only 3 months after Thomas' death. That was pretty quick, I hope he died of natural causes :)

they didnt hang about in them days!! :)

cant find anything else that is readable about these families.

Pity, I had hoped to get to the early 1700's with this :) Here's the info I have on Joseph: Born 30 Oct 1779 ,Cannon St. Meeting House -Baptist, Birmingham, Warwick- Father Dennis Vowles, mother Mary.
