Villa Street Tram

we could go down to the Black Eagle for their fantastic lunch
Sounds good to me, even if I didn't come from that area, although as some of you may remember my dad used to have (and lived at for a while) a furniture shop just at the junction of Heathfield Road.

A truly fine model of the church, Peter - what happened to it, is it still in existence?

hi peter...i think thats a cracking idea.....as a child i did not realise just how much history there is round those parts as probably most of us didnt...when you have found out the details maybe you could post them on the members days out section....i am sure there will be a great interest in your suggestion...

I used to live in newton Place it was a little square of terraced houses set back, right by thr Black Eagle.

hi patty....its a small world isnt it.....peter mentioning visiting the matthew boulton house bought to mind something.....a few years ago i was watching a time team episode about the boulton works...imagine my surprise when up popped my first real boyfriend...they were digging up the garden and patio area of his parents house in south road....he was well into it and helped out a lot...the works ran under the garden and apparently under the living room....but they called it a day at that point....:D:D:D

Hi All - I grew up in Soho House (Matthew Boulton's old home) and lived there until I was nearly 17! It is just across the road from St Michaels. I would love to join you all if possible for a day out there, St Michaels, and the Black Eagle. Will try and get there if I can.

Judy

hi judy..you were so lucky to have lived there....i am sure that when peter has sorted something out he will let us know the details...i reckon this will be a popular day out for forum members...do hope you can make it..it will be great to meet you...

I would love to meet you all as well Lyn, so I will certainly try to get there if I can :)

Judy

Well, it looks as if I've talked myself into organising a trip to Soho Hall, St Michael's Church and a meal at the Black Eagle. We are away late May and edarly June, so it would have to be mid-May (a bit too soon after the St George's day do) or mid to late June, preferably I imagine before the holiday season taskes over. Preferably a week-end I take it.
I will make some enquiries and come back soon.
Peter
