I went to my first Villa match in the 1950s and stood at the front of the Holte End. From that time until I went for the last time in the 1990s the only "rough" time I experienced was when Rangers played us in a friendly. We didn't stay for the rest of the match. I only experienced friendliness, camaraderie and wonderful humour. As a Villa fan from the 1950s, It was pretty rough those days
If you merge a couple together you can (sort of...) get a panoramic view:-

Especially if you were a young lad stood right down the front. I will say no more than that, not great memories, even when they won. Best moment was if the football special was one of the remaining 1930s AEC buses to take you home.As a Villa fan from the 1950s, It was pretty rough those days

When did they install floodlights?Aerial view of Witton showing most of Villa Park dated 1934.

mark i wonder what was the building before villa used it for their offices...and yes congratulations to the villa..as far as i am concerned it is all good news for birmingham..i like to see all midland clubs do well...listened to the match on the radio...and of course it is aston villas history...No - it was the old Villa offices - when the North Stand was completed they were moved into the stand and the old buildings were demolished.
And now - and I dont care if anyone moans its not history or off thread - WELL DONE TO THE VILLA LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
thanks mike that does seem likely

There is more on this area of the ground in the previous thread "Aston Villa History" (opened 2/4/12 & last post 1/4/26) from page 7 post #183 onwards. Mark, last night was a night that will live in Villa fans memories that were in Istanbul, as long as the last such occasion has, for those of us that were in Rotterdam 44 years ago. UTV!No - it was the old Villa offices - when the North Stand was completed they were moved into the stand and the old buildings were demolished.
