Alec Leake (1872-1938) was born in Birmingham like his illustrious celebrity
Sid Field. Joke teller and humour ran in the family. His father, Ted was famous
for rhyming commentaries at the Small Heath matches. At the Droitwich baths
Alec would retrieve a coin from the bottom, to the amusement of his friends.
Arriving from the 'Blues' in 1902-03 season he gained an F.A. Cup medal and
International caps too in 1904-05. Completing his career at Burnley and also
managing Merthyr Tydfil, Alec gave many opportunities to lads from the Birmingham Area.
