It's hard to match up this 1964 Park Stores view with today's Park View Gallery premises. But there are a few details, such as windows and fascia features that help. The street sign is still in place above the shop. The green, glazed tiles beneath the windows must have been removed or painted over some years back. This is at the junction with Avenue Road.
There's an unassuming road sign attached to the lamp post (right), informing us that this is the 'Ring Road'. A nice (yellow) semi-circular rubbish bin is attached to the lamp post too. Many Midland Counties ice-cream wrappers must have been deposited in there ! Unless of course, the Midland Counties sign outside the shop served as one of their triangular bins, too.
