I felt sure we had a thread for Vauxhall Gardens but can’t find one. If you know of one please let me know.

J L Pedley painted this watercolour in 1850 (image from BMAG archives). I was wondering if any of the buildings in the painting still exist ? Can we name and locate the various buildings shown please ? Viv.

A taster of entertainments available at the Gardens in 1863. It had obviously moved on from the simple, charming, landscaped gardens portrayed in Pedley’s painting of 1850. Viv.

I was informed that Vauxhall gardens would have been were spooner street was . On the slope leading down towards we’re duddeston station is .
 
My Great grandmother on my mother's side must have bought this there. It took me a while to work out who it belonged to until I realised that women didn't have their own names, she was Mrs George Henry Williams, not Mrs Sarah Jane Williams. Not a time for feminists really.

Hi all when I lived in Castle Bromwich on the late 50s and 60s I used to catch the 56 bus into town which went through Vauxhall and when it got to Belmont Row one conductress who was a real character used to shout Vauxhall Gardens and it always raised a laugh as anyone who can remember what it was like in those years with its derelict factories etc will understand but now to my suprise there was such a place
