Varna Road

A slight anomaly perhaps.

There are a George and Lillian Cooper listed on the ER rolls at 100 Varna Road. They ae there from at least 1955 to 1965, so either it is not the correct George Cooper or he didn't die in 1958.
First, Thank you so much everyone who gave an answer or comments about my Grandfather , George Cooper and my Step Grandmother Lily Cooper (Wotton, maiden name. It appears that she took back her maiden name. Her father is listed on the marriage Certificate with the same last name.)
They got married in November 1953 previous marriage dissolved and lived in Ladywood at the time of marriage, Lily was a widow, also lived in Ladywood.
In March 1958, when George passed away he is listed as having the same job both times and records I found in 1939 listed his job being the same at the B'ham Water Works Department.
On his Death Certificate it shows under when and where died was at 100 Varna Road in Edgbaston. His age was 54 which is correct.
I have a Census of 1950 of him living with his sister between marriages.
Everything seems to line up.
I was just curious to see the area and if the house or apt. or flat still exists. Was it a nicer area earlier on? Just curious.
I'm looking into Lily's life a bit more too now. I'm thinking now that she might have stayed there a while longer after 1958. I will look into it a bit more.
I never knew that their names were so common. So many people with the same names in my searches.
Again, many thanks everyone!

Thank you for all of these responses. Greatly appreciated. I have his Death Certificate showing the right dates and address. I'll research Lily a bit more. Thank you so much.

I don't think my Grandfather had a middle name but everything lines up with all of my other information.
Is there another area that would have the same address in Ladywood by chance?.
I don't know how close these areas would be.
Many thanks,
Lynn Roth
There is no middle name. The "J" is to show he is eligible for jury service.
Varna Road no longer exists it was demolished in the late 1960s when large parts of the area underwent redevelopment.

Varna Road caused moral panic in 1960s Britain. But Janet Mendelsohn set out to tell the truth about the red light district’s pimps, prostitutes, streetkids and slums
