Cardomon Tea, yummy and good for the digestion too. In fact anything with cardamon, maybe not cabbage water...although I don't know though......maybe EVEN cabbage water. Speaking of condensed milk those wonderful indian sweets with both in that go straight to my hips!
 
Darr, thanks to immigrants like your dad I can get the real McCoy. When I'm in Ghent (Belgium) I go to a Turkish shop and buy a 1/2 kilo (yes 500 gram) of Ceylon yaprak çayi (pure Ceylon tea) and that for only £2. 50!!! Makes dozens of pots Brummie brew.

IF you are ever in London go to Soho to Brewer Street (very appropriate) and there is THE best coffee and tea shop ever. Coffee from all over the world, freshly ground including cardomon coffee. Sadly, here in Devon they haven't really even cottoned on to proper stength Cappacinno apart from maybe in big towns like Exeter.
 
I remember condensed milk going into tea, it served as sugar and milk in those days. Also remember having Camp bottled coffee.

When it comes to ground coffee here in Belgium we are really spoilt for choice and this summer I tasted my best cup of tea ever packaged by a German company called 'Teekanne'. It was loose tea not the 'bags' or fruit tea in this 'funny' clip.

I still drink cabbage water - but my mouth waters at the thought of toast with dripping [the real kind] and salt and pepper.
My dad and I used to like Lemons and green apples with salt. Also we had bread and butter with a slice of - a sort of currant cake - to make a sandwich. - well we ate it so it must have been nice in those "old'en" days.

I have two Colombian daughter in laws who love sucking plain lemon slices with no sort of sweetener. Perhaps this is why they are so sharped tounged.
They also put honey on some strange things like meat.A traditional roast dinner is a nightmare, it comes out in bits and pieces and is always cold. Me and the mrs find somewhere else to go for Christmas Dinner. Columbian cooking relies heavily on beans of all sorts and I find quiet boring.I wish one of the lads had married a girl who could whip up a really good curry.

Thanks for the ideas on cabbage stalk usage. Does this work on cauliflowers? By the time you remove the centre stalks on greens you seem to throw away 20% of the item. Unlike Stitcher I am mean and hate throwing anything away. I did have a girlfriend who became hooked on the cabbage water diet, the relationship did not last long. You might say it vapourised..
