Turley and Williams, Ltd., locations - Originally of Reliance Works, Green Street, Deritend, Birmingham.

In 1928 Charles married the daughter Marjorie. They seem to have moved to 928 Bristol Road but in 1939 928 was empty on the 1939 reg and they were living with her parents at 215 Beaumont road.

Janice, That's all fantastic research. Would his father-in-law (if he hadn't died) have been Arthur Edward Williams, one of the founders of Turley & Williams in 1905 ?

I'm trying to check this out. I did wonder that. At the moment I don't think so - I do think Arthur Edward and Edward (his father-in-law) were related.
When do you think Arthur Edward died?

Charles is living with his in-laws Edward and Annie on the 1939 register. Edward is listed as a Metal Shop foreman.
Arthur Edward is living in Knowle. So definitely different people.

Janice, I wondered if one of the partners died, which caused the company to go into voluntary liquidation.
I've finally had an intelligent response from Companies house, and will fork out to see who owned it @ £40 per company

The one who seems to have died first was Charles Turley but that was in 1928.

I ssupect his son(s) may have carried on in the same business as on 1939 William is listed as a sheet metal manufacturer.
