Does anyone remember the Rendevous Des Amis in Mere Green? It was subsequently The School House Pub and now an Indian Restaurant part of the Soho Tavern group.
I think that in the late 1970s Trevor Eve was the owner of The Rendevous

I didn’t know Trevor Eve was from Sutton. I don’t know why but I’ve never taken to the gentleman.
