Quote from "The Birmingham Gun Trade" by David Williams:
"Tranter, originally from Oldbury, made significant numbers of revolvers of innovative design at Aston Cross, Birmingham, the business being leased to Kynochs, subsequently IMI, and then passing to the Aston Arms Co. For a time Tranter worked in partnership with the Hollis Brothers. The Hollis family concentrated on longarms for military and export markets and became one of the largest Birmingham 'gun factories'. Tranter may have learned a considerable amount from the business and commercial approaches from his time with the Hollis's. Tranter made a considerable proportion of British revolving arms, but this reflects a modest market rather than the large scale of his operation"
