John was born Aprox 1826 and married to Elizabeth, their daughter Sarah was my g.g.grandmother and I would love to find out anything about him. He was a Railway Guard on her Birth cert but I can't find one for him or find him on the 1871 1891 or 1901 census. One census shows him living off an army penshion and he lived in Barrack street so think he may have been in the army. Any ideas how I can find out please. or anyone connected to him. Many thanks Maria
 
Hi Maria, my Tonks ancestors lived in the next street to Barrack Street in Ashted, they lived in Great Brook Street and they were Alfred Tonks and Hannah (Annie) (Minchin), prob not connected but you never know!
 
Found John on the 1891 Census.

Living in Hawthorn Cottage which could be in Cromwell St, Aston.

His is listed as age 62, Army Pensioner, born Birmingham

Is that the correct family? No sign of a Sarah though. I found him on the 1851 where it states he was a Railway Porter living in Barrack Street. Also his death in 1897.

Emily, born 1841 (according to 1871 census) - married to Samuel Granner 1861, and died 1877.
Born, lived, died in Aston, Birmingham.
