 Spot on Beryl, although I'm not allowed to make it!
Colin had some in his works canteen once and had very bad food poisoning. (This was long before we were married and I cooked for him). So just the mention of the dish sends him crazy.
First made this dish in Domestic Science classes. I have made it for my family for years and it is very popular although we don't eat it very much these days. Mostly a winter dish. Delia Smith's recipe is very close to mine
although I didn't always make the onion gravy.
We have it at least once a week and with Onion Gravy, If there is one thing my Lady is good at (other than picking me as a partner), is Gravy to die for. Oh and her Yorkshire is 4* I would have given 5 Stars but
What you need is Good Plain Flour, Fresh Eggs, and Standing time for your Batter when made, don't rush its worth the wait.
