It now looks like I am resulting to gleaning information from 'directories' something I have never looked at before.
Mikejee has kindly found some entries, some from 'Whites directory' and shera found the same from 'History of Birmingham 1849'
Can anyone please please look to see if there is a Thomas Cox - Jeweller from Birmingham in any other 'directories' . His son William Henry Cox was also stated as a Jeweller in 1877 so he just may appear in a directory of some sort as well.
I have seen - Cox Thomas, lapidary, and dlr. in all kinds of real stones, diamonds, etc, 74, Caroline street (on looking at censuses this turned out not to be my ancestor)
also Cox Thomas, plater 288 Watery lane ( I could not find this one on a census in Birmingham, only one in Sheffield, he actually is a contender for the job as my 'ancestor')
and Cox,William, jeweller, high st Aston (could not fnd this one on censuses)
Thanks again for any help.
Ewan
