SORRY

DONT KNOW HOW THOSE THINGIES GOT INTO THE STORY, PERHAPS SOMEONE CAN REMOVE THEMN FOR ME?

ROBERT

Robert,

Did you paste it in from a Word document? I think Rod mentioned that the new forum doesn't particularly like that and throws up those funny characters to let you know.

Rod may have a better work-round but all I can suggest is you go back over it and correct them yourself.
It gets a mention in this post https://tinyurl.com/m6vxe

Thank you,

It was buying a new computer that caused the problem.
It had a different program to what I was used to. I have now downloaded
the old program and should have no more trouble.

I did try and take the Thingies out but I see that they are still there.
Oh well, I may have to re type it again if I think it worth it.

Robert

Excuse me gents - but what are "thingies" Can you enlighten me?

Robert when I get a minute I'll remove your errm Thingies >:D ....... we have a bit of a problem with stuff pasted into the forum from a word processor eg word......... It's not your fault O0

It cant be the program as I have gone back to Microsoft Word which has always worked fine
So what is the problem????

Help PLEASE.

Robert

Robert,
As I understand it, the problem is with the forum software that doesn't appear compatible with text pasted in from ANY word processing application. Didn't Rod say he was working on it?

Hi Robert
Have you done any text editing on the documents before pasting, such as Bold, underline Etc.
I've found that these don't usually transfer with the rest of the document and have to be done again after pasting
It's just a thought but are these "Thingies" showing up where text has been edited?

Robert its not your computer, I cant put it any plainer mate........... It's to do with the forum and how it interprets letters pasted into it from word processors. we have a bug in the code. I will fix your story once I get time but it takes me a while so plz dont panic.

Not getting at anyone Rod
I was annoyed to see them (The Thingies) come up again
even though I put the story back onto my old Microsoft Word.
The problem seems to occure when I put in the two curly thingies
before and after someone is speaking.

Thank you for what you will do for me.

Robert

Robert if you use any word processor software and type characters other than letters youll get the Thingies. All I can say is if you write anything and use a word type programme, add the ' " ; : using the forum...... Sorry but for now thats all I can do.
We are searching for a patch or other work around for the problem, and I do realise your not getting at anyone?
